South Rufe Taylor Road in Tusculum will be closed beginning Monday morning, May 12, for demolition of an existing one-lane bridge and construction of a new, two-lane bridge.

Tusculum Mayor John Foster said the bridge will be closed for some time while Lyons Construction, of Rogersville, replaces the South Rufe Taylor Road Bridge.

Mayor Foster said the contract calls for the bridge to be completed within 90 days. "I don't think it will take that long if we have good weather," the mayor said.

He noted that the Greeneville Water Commission is scheduled to begin relocating sewer and water lines that pass beneath the existing bridge on May 22.
