An event is scheduled for noon Thursday, May 1, in front of the Greene County Courthouse in observance of the National Day of Prayer.

A proclamation designating the National Day of Prayer will be read by Greene County Mayor Alan Broyles, according to the Rev. Larrie Pike, the event's organizer.

Greeneville Mayor Darrell Bryan also will speak. The music will led by Dr. John Rogers and his wife, Jan.

In addition to the courthouse event, several local schools will observe the National Day of Prayer by gathering before school hours to pray at their schools' flagpoles, Pike said.

For more information on plans for the local National Day of Prayer event, call Rev. Pike at Campground Church of God, 638-6822.
