Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident along the East Andrew Johnson Highway at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

A report filed by GPD Office Louis Calobrisi said the accident took place at the intersection of the East Andrew Johnson Highway and Bob Smith Boulevard.

The report said the wreck occurred when an eastbound 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Joshua P. Poe, 17, of Gap Creek Road, Bulls Gap, was unable to stop and struck the rear of a 1997 Dodge Neon driven by Donald Brockwell, 48, of Jonesborough, as Brockwell's car sat at a red light.

The impact of the rear-end collision then sent Brockwell's car into the side of a 2007 Jeep Cherokee driven by Rodney L. Bell, 46, of Grapevine Trail, as Bell attempted to turn left from Bob Smith Boulevard onto the East Andrew Johnson Highway, according to the report.

Brockwell was taken to Laughlin Memorial Hospital by private vehicle, while Poe was taken to the same hospital by a Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance, according to the report.

Bell escaped injury, the report said.
