The 2007 Crime in Tennessee report issued on Wednesday by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation includes complete crime statistics for the Baileyton and Tusculum municipalities.

Based on information submitted by the Baileyton Police Department (BPD), the TBI report says Baileyton officers investigated 33 offenses in 2007 and cleared 10 of those cases.

The BPD also made 14 arrests, including those of 12 adults and two juveniles last year, according to the TBI report.

In keeping with the statewide trend of fewer murders in 2007, the Baileyton Police Department investigated no murders last year, the report said.

In terms of crimes against people, the report said, the BPD investigated one aggravated assault, one statutory rape, two simple assaults and one intimidation incident.

In terms of crimes against property in 2007, the BPD investigated three burglaries, four vandalism incidents, one credit-card fraud incident, two robberies, three shoplifting incidents, two thefts from buildings, three thefts from motor vehicles, one theft of vehicle parts and five other larcenies.

In the category of crimes against society, the BPD investigated one drug/narcotic violation, one drug-equipment violation and one weapons law violation, the TBI report said.

Tusculum Crime Statistics

The Tusculum Police Department (TPD), according to the TBI report, investigated a total of 58 offenses during 2007 and cleared 26 of those cases.

As was the case in the rest of Greene County, the Tusculum police investigated no murders in 2007, according to the report.

The TPD also made 92 arrests during 2007, including those of 89 adults and three juveniles, the TBI report said.

In the category of crimes against people, the TPD investigated one forcible fondling case, three simple assaults and two intimidation incidents.

In terms of crimes against property in 2007, the TBI report said Tusculum police investigated a dozen burglaries, seven vandalism incidents, one robbery, four thefts from buildings, and two thefts from motor vehicles.

The TPD also investigated 22 drug/narcotic violations and four drug-equipment violations in 2007, according to the TBI report.
