Dr. Don E. "Ed" Claiborne, who practiced veterinary medicine here for 21 years before shifting to another career path, has reopened a veterinary office with the assistance of his wife, Cleva, the office's manager.

Dr. Claiborne, a 1980 graduate of the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine, had a veterinary practice here from then until 2001 before leaving the field to go into banking.

They previously owned Brookfield Animal Hospital.

Dr. Claiborne's new office, the Animal Medical Center of Greeneville, PC, is at 521 N. Main St. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Dr. Claiborne said he is glad to be back working as a veterinarian here.

He offers "a full-service practice" that cares for both small and large animals.

The office telephone number is 639-6777. In an emergency, call 423-638-1735 or 423-639-0743.
