Herbert Addington Died: June 25, 2009 Herbert Addington, 86, of Kingsport, died Thursday evening at Holston Manor in Kingsport. Known as "Cadillac Man" to many, he retired from Jack Daniels Texaco and was a former employee of Duffer & Taylor Texaco, both in Kingsport. He was of the Baptist tradition of faith. Mr. Addington was a veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Mary Hazel Addington. "He loved to buy and sell at area flea markets," his family stated. Survivors include two brothers and one sister-in-law: Harding and Lena Addington and Karl Addington, all of Kingsport; one sister-in-law: Alma Nelson Addington of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents: J.F. and Pearl Wampler Addington; one sister: Arletta Broadwater; four brothers: Sylvain, T.J. Addington, H.S. Addington, and Paul R. Addington. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
