Alma Elizabeth Chance Died: July 15, 2008 Alma Elizabeth Chance, 88, of Fairfield Drive, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at her home. She was a member of Greeneville First Baptist Church, the Faith Sunday School Class, and the Young-At-Heart. Mrs. Chance was the widow of John Howard Chance, her husband of 65 years who died Jan. 12, 2007. A native of Knox County, she and her husband moved here in 1969 when he was transferred by Food City as the meat market manager. Mrs. Chance also worked in the meat department of Food City for a number of years, retiring in 1982. "She was a loving and devoted 'Granny,' " her family noted. Survivors include her son: John Chance of the home; a daughter: Gwendolyn Belisle of Morristown; nine grandchildren and their spouses: Tony Belisle of Morristown, Tim and Tammy Belisle of Johnson City, Stacy Belisle of Morristown, Patrick and Mollie Belisle of Knoxville, Johnny and Angie Chance of Morristown, Suzie and Drew Horner of Rogersville, Chris and Heather Chance of Georgia, and Jeff Chance and Kevin Chance, both of Greeneville; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Marie Walker of Dandridge. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Irwin, and a brother, Richard Ault. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Dr. David Green and the Rev.
