KINGSPORT -- Gertrude Henry Copas, 86, of Kingsport, died Sunday at Greystone Healthcare Center in Blountville after an extended illness.

She was born April 5, 1922, in Greene County, and was a daughter of the late Mattie Henry.

Ms. Copas was a 1940 graduate of Chuckey High School.

She worked at Tennessee Eastman Co. and Shoney's until her retirement.

Ms. Copas was of the Methodist tradition of faith.

"She loved her flowers and loved spending time with her family and friends," her family noted.

Survivors include her sons and a daughter-in-law: Robert K. Miller of Mount Carmel, Leon and Teresa Copas of the home, and David Copas of Memphis; and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Funeral Home in Kingsport and other times at the home of Robert Miller.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 2 o'clock in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Pastor Eddie Malone will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane of Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
