James Edward "Ed" Mitchell, 80, of Lakeshore Drive, Rutledge, died Sunday at his home.

Mr. Mitchell retired from American Enka.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman

Mr. Mitchell was a son of the late Herbert and Nola Cutshaw Mitchell and was the widower of Martha Park Mitchell.

Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Cleo Mitchell of Chuckey, Sam and Shirley Mitchell of Baileyton, and a very special brother and caregiver, Jimmy Mitchell and his wife, Joan, of Greeneville; six sisters and four brothers-in-law: Mary Lou Ottinger, Mabel Lafollette, Margaret and Charles Kinser, Susie and Joe Seaton, and Brenda and Ollie Norton, all of Greeneville, and Ann and Don Graves of Washington County; a stepdaughter: Cherrie McCurry of King, N.C.; two stepgrandchildren: Pam Warrick of King, and Eddie Warrick of Rutledge; several nieces and nephews; and three very special friends: Fred and Wanda Packett and Bob Cameron, all of Rutledge.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Mitchell.

There will be no formal visitation. Friends may call at their convenience from 2-8 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in Whittenburg Cemetery. Chaplain Bob Hogan will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at 10:15 at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

His nephews will be pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be his friends and the staff of Morristown Home Health and Hospice.
