Harriette LaRue Nease, 96, of the Caney Branch community, died late Saturday at Life Care Center of Greeneville.

Mrs. Nease was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Women, and the Home Demonstration Club.

"She enjoyed working outside in her flower garden, on the farm and visiting with her friends," her family noted.

She was the widow of Kenneth L. Nease.

Mrs. Nease is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Lowell and Charlsie Nease and LaRue and Judy Nease, all of Greene County; two grandchildren and their spouses: Tony and Wendy Nease and Tammy and Mickey Reaves, all of Greeneville; three stepgrandchildren and their spouses: David and Monica Snipes, Mark and Judy Snipes, and Daniel Snipes, all of Greene County; six great-grandchildren: Jordan Nease, Joshua Nease, Taylor Reaves, Ashlyn Reaves, David Lee Tunnell and Derek Tunnell, all of Greeneville; seven stepgreat-grandchildren: Salina Snipes, Phillip Snipes, Leighann Snipes, Byron Snipes, Irene Snipes, Benjamin Snipes, and Stephanie Snipes, all of Greene County; two sisters: Selma Harrison of Nashville and Virginia Burnette of Loudon; one brother: Ralph LaRue of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews and cousins; and her special friends: Cleo Holt and Marietta Tate, both of Greene County.

Mrs. Nease is preceded in death by one granddaughter: Amy Tunnell; two brothers: Albert and Hugh LaRue; and one sister: Eleanor Collins.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at St. James Lutheran Church. The Rev. Michael Jannett will officiate.

Interment will follow in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors.
