Denna W. Young

Died: April 27, 2008

KINGSPORT -- Denna W. Young, 92, of Kingsport, died Sunday.

"He went to be with the Lord," his family stated. "He loved his Savior and had been looking forward to going home after a long life of service."

Mr. Young was born May 3, 1915, in Ripley, W.Va., and was a son of the late Franklin and Elpha (Vannest) Young.

He retired from the DuPont Belle Meade plant after 35 years of service.

Mr. Young and his wife, Louise, moved to Greeneville in the early 1980s, where they lived until recently.

He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Greeneville.

He is survived by his "loving" wife of more than 60 years: Louise C. Young; his stepson: William McConnell; his stepdaughter: Loretta Rice; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son: Richard Young; eight brothers: Homer Young, Lewis Young, William Young, Gilbert Young, Owen Young, Charles Young, Howard Young, and Robert Young; and one sister: Hazel Young.

The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at East Lawn Funeral Home, 4997 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 2 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Dr. David Green will officiate.

Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Men's Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Greeneville.
