Mildred "Honey" Blankenship Smith, 87, of Cherrydale Drive, died Thursday afternoon at
the home of her son in Greeneville.
She was secretary for a number of
years at the Greeneville Light & Power System and was a member of First Church of God in
Greeneville.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law:
Leonard George Smith Jr. and wife, Kim, of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jim Smith of Greeneville; two
granddaughters and their husbands: Laura Anne and Kevin Mitcham of Kingsport, and Christy and Dustin
Moore of Greeneville; one grandson: Chris Smith of Raleigh, N.C.; her great-grandchildren and their
spouses: Michael and Ellie Mitcham of Chattanooga, Rachel and Jason Knight of Telford, Ashley Anne
Mitcham and Craig Woods Mitcham, both of Kingsport, and Tehya Moore, Dustin Brock Moore Jr., and
Autumn Moore, all of Greeneville; numerous special friends; and a special friend of the family:
Luann Ward of Greeneville, who is the significant other of Jim Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband: L.G. Smith Sr.; one son: Bill Smith; and one
grandson: Craig Smith.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.
today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow
visitation and will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
The Rev. Gerald Rudd will officiate.
Interment will be
held at 2 p.m. Monday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers
will be Dustin Moore, Brock Moore, Kevin Mitcham, Craig Mitcham, Jason Knight, John Carter, and Alex
Ward.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Smith, Leonard Smith Jr., Chris
Smith, Harold Morrell, Michael Mitcham, Dr. Brad Strange and his staff, and the nurses and staff of
Caris Hospice.
