Mary E. Carpenter
Died: March 18, 2010
Mary E. Carpenter, 82, of Johnson
City, died Thursday at Four Oaks Healthcare Center in Jonesborough.
She is survived in Chuckey by a daughter, Frankie Denton.
Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Hawkins County and had lived in Johnson City since her
teenage years. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Blevins "Blev" and Ollie Mae Johnson Bass.
She was a homemaker.
Ms. Carpenter was
of the Baptist tradition of faith.
Additional survivors include two
daughters: Polly Carpenter of Jonesborough and Kim Fletcher of Danbury, Conn.; five grandchildren:
Mary Ann "Sissy" Lewis, Tommy Joe "P-nut" Denton, Allison Elliott, Carrie Frye, and Jamie Tipton;
six great-grandchildren; one sister: Edith Ward of Rogersville; one brother: Hugh Lee Bass of
Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by one son: Doug Carpenter; and two brothers: Carl Bass and Robert Bass.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001
Oakland Ave., Johnson City.
A celebration of life service will be held
at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the South Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Kenneth Kyker will
officiate.
Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dean Lewis, Randy Lewis, Jerry Baker, Mark
Pelletier, Sean Elliott, Alex Capps, and Andy Frye.
Honorary
pallbearers will be Tommy Joe "P-nut" Denton and Eric Lewis.
