James William Beard

Died: March 17, 2010

James William Beard, 83, of Greeneville, died Wednesday at Life Care Center of Greeneville.

Mr. Beard was a cook at Peggy Ann Bakery, Tusculum College, and while serving in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of Friendship.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Wanda and Leroy Ripley of Greeneville and Frankie and Carl Lewis of Goldsboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Michael Beard, Lonnie Poore, Tara Lewis, Anissa Poore, Jacinda Senior-Brown, Kipper Poore, Kayla Lewis, and Russell Lewis; 13 great-grandchildren; and number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Sandra Senior; and a granddaughter: Sonya Delaney.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 11 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. C.C. Mills Jr. will officiate.

Interment will follow in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard will conduct a military graveside rite.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Brotherhood of Friendship Baptist Church.
