Died: March 11, 2010

Carolyn R. (Tweed) Kelley Epps, 66, of Walhalla, S.C., formerly of Greeneville, died Thursday evening at Oconee Medical Center Hospice in Seneca, S.C., after an extended illness.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1943, in Greeneville, and was a daughter of the late Glen E. and Glenna Tweed.

Her family stated, "She developed a passion and talent for music at an early age. She was a talented musician that dedicated her life, sharing with others, her talent and love of the piano and organ.

"Carolyn was a longtime organist at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. She was known for her vibrant sense of humor and witty personality."

Survivors include her husband: Paul Epps; one daughter and son-in-law: Lori and Eric Ensign of Asheville, N.C.; one son: Michael Kelley of Greeneville; one grandson: Jake Scheffers; one brother and sister-in-law: Buzz and Donna Tweed of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister and brother-in-law: Brenda and Lee Schaltenbrand of High Springs, Fla.; a special uncle and aunt: Lloyd and Cleo Craven of Bristol; two nieces; one nephew; and a special friend of the family: Jamie Shetley of Greeneville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Keith Kelley.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Tammie Greene and the Rev. Charles Hutchins will officiate.

Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jake Scheffers, Eric Ensign, Conley Riddle, Larry White, Howard Bowers, and Roy Weems.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of St. Lukes United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 339, Walhalla, SC 29691-0339.
