Died: Feb. 21, 2010

WEST GARDINER, Maine -- Christopher Scott Riedel, 46, of West Gardiner, died unexpectedly Feb. 21.

His family stated, "He was called home unexpectedly by his Lord and Savior."

Born July 16, 1963, in New Jersey, he was a son of Betty Harrington Riedel of Greeneville, Tenn., and the late Robert Riedel IV, his best friend.

He had lived in several places throughout his life, including Canada, Tennessee, Florida, and Maine.

His family provided the following statement: "A 1981 graduate of Greeneville High School, Chris was a welder by trade and worked very hard and took great pride in his work when his health allowed.

"Chris adored and enjoyed time spent with his family and missed all of them very much with the miles between them, but all were always close to his heart and in his prayers.

"He enjoyed trips to Rangeley, Ohio, Florida, and Tennessee, whether it was camping, fishing, snowmobiling or four-wheeling, or just cooking a big pot of spaghetti to share with those that meant the most to him.

"Chris loved everyone and will be remembered as a kind man and will be missed by all who knew him."

In addition to his mother, survivors include his children: Justin Riedel, Dustin Riedel and his wife, Melissa, Jonathan VerCrouse, Christopher Riedel, and Marlaina (Riedel) Weston; his grandchildren: Kaeti "Doodlebug" (Riedel) Weston, Tanner Riedel, Logen Riedel, and Jack VerCrouse; his stepchildren: Shane Welborn, Tricia Weston McMaster, and Bruce E. and Mandi Weston; his stepgrandchildren: Chase McMaster, Sydnee McMaster, Kayden Weston, and Avrey McMaster; a sister "seester": Laurie Rust and her husband, Rob; a special nephew: Andy Morelock; a special niece: Amanda Rust; his grandmother: Ella E. Harrington; a special aunt and her husband: Margie and Jim York; a special uncle and his wife: Leroy and Margaret Harrington; his special cousins: Ron Harrington and his wife, Sharon, Don Perkins, and Lisa Rines and her husband, Cleve; the mothers of his children and his friends: Lori Gregg, Sandy VerCrouse, Samantha Riedel, and Kathy (Riedel) Weston; and a number of special friends, including: Jeff O'Neil and Jerry Gorman.
