Madge Boggs

JOHNSON CITY -- Madge Boggs, 87, of Johnson City, died Wednesday at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Greene County, Mrs. Boggs was a daughter of the late Charles Forster Melton and Ella Campbell Melton. She lived most of her life in Johnson City.
She was married to the late Henry Boggs for 51 years.
Mrs. Boggs retired in 1987 from Siemens Corp. after 12 years of service.
She was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons and their wives: James and Bettie Boggs of Charleston, S.C., and Garry and Janie Boggs and Ric Boggs, all of Johnson City; a daughter-in-law: Shelby Boggs Broyles of Jonesborough; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers: the staffs of the 5400 wing at the Johnson City Medical Center and station one at the NHC HealthCare.
She was preceded in death by a son: Ronnie Boggs; two sisters: Alice Thornburg and Maggie Cannon; and two brothers: Jim Melton and Marion Melton.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Ave., Johnson City.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the South Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Tommy Melton and Roy Yelton will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be David Boggs, Chris Boggs, Darrell Tracy Boggs, Travis Melton, Matthew Hammitt, and Dallas Boggs.
Davey Boggs will be an honorary pallbearer.
