Don Franklin Jones

Died: March 8, 2010

Don Franklin Jones, 76, of Carson Street, Greeneville, died Monday morning at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Jones was retired.

After retirement, he was employed as a security guard at Plus Mark Inc. (American Greetings) and worked for a Greene County Convenience Center.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church

Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was very active as a volunteer for Laughlin HealthCare Center.

He was a son of the late Maulty and Ruth Woolsey Jones and was the widower of Anna Mary "Rooney" Jones, who died June 24, 2003.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: the Rev. Martin and Louise Jones of Jonesboro, Ga., and Craig and Jean Jones of Kansas City, Kan.; his stepson and his wife: Steve and Glennis Burns of Greeneville; his grandchildren: David Jones of Fort Hood, Texas, Jonathan Jones and Daniel Jones, both of Jonesboro, Ga., Jacob Jones of Kansas City, Jay Burns of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Lauren Burns of Greeneville; a brother: J.R. "Buck" Jones of Greeneville; a sister and brother-in-law: Madge and Ben Essary of Bristol; a sister-in-law: Robbie Jones of Greeneville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Billy Joe and Doris Waddell of Greeneville; his mother-in-law: Tillie Waddell of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Matthew Jones and Duncan Jones; and one brother: Jack Jones.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Martin Jones and the Rev. Todd Abbey will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 9:30 at the funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery.

His grandsons will be pallbearers.
