NEWPORT -- Elizabeth Louella Askew, 76, of Parrottsville, died Monday at her home.
"She went to be with the Lord after an extended and courageous battle with cancer," her family stated.
Born Oct. 23, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Tilman and Lucy (Henry) Williams.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years: Cecil Askew; a daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Roger Smith of Parrottsville; two grandsons: Johnny Reece of Dandridge and Justin Reece of Parrottsville; a great-grandson: Logan Reece of Parrottsville, who was "the light of her life"; a sister: Hazel Keller of White Pine; her special and loving family of caregivers: Dr. Dharmen Patel and the staff of Tennessee Cancer Specialist in Greeneville, and the staffs of Smoky Mountain Hospice and Amedisys Home Health Care.
She was preceded in death by six brothers: Tilman Williams Jr., James Williams, Thomas Williams, Franklin Williams, Leroy Williams, and Dooley Henry; and three sisters: Wanda Worex, Juanita Moss, and Reba Pettus.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Manes Funeral Home in Newport.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Bobbie Dunford and the Rev. Scott Gorrell will officiate.
Burial will be in Parrottsville Memorial Church Cemetery.
