Died: March 6, 2010

Rex J. Watts, 67, of Royal Street, Greeneville, died Saturday morning at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

He retired from the Greene County Highway Department and was a former employee of the Greeneville Water Department.

Mr. Watts was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter when his health permitted.

His special pets included his dogs: "Brownie," "Blackie," "Lucky," "Jody," "Buddy," and "Tessa," and his cat: "Tinker."

Survivors include his "loving wife of 47 years": Mary Louise Feezell Watts; one son and daughter-in-law: Timothy Wayne and Teresa Watts; one grandson: Matthew Shelton; two stepgranddaughters: Amanda Campbell and Niki Garland; one sister-in-law: Marie Gray; one special nephew: Curtis Gray; one special niece: Connie Lamons; a special great-nephew: Dalton Gray; a special great-niece: Darian Gray; three special aunts: Unie Wills, Dorthy Austin, and Sarah Gray; a special uncles and aunt: Junior and Della Sue Gray; and a host of special friends at Bargain Lot Auction: Jim and Darlene Brown, Kay Swift, Hershel White, Linda Lethco, Fay Dean, David, Ruth, and Anita Melton, Ralph McNabb, and many others.

He was preceded in death by his daughter: Tammy Marie Watts; a grandson: Tim "Scooter" Watts Jr.; his mother: Myrtle Gray; and two brothers: Ross Gray and Johnny Watts.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Buster Shelton, the Rev. Ray Shelton, and the Rev. Blaine Shoun will officiate

Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Holt, Charles Gosnell, David Lamons, J.C. Jones, Bill Banner, Rankin Gregg, Dennis Walls, and Chester Beach.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Beach, Kenneth Fillers, Jim Brown, Hershel White, Kay Swift, Ralph McNabb, Gordon Miller, Michael Pearson, Russell Pearson, Harold Chapman, Shorty Davis, Dr. A.K. Sen and his staff, Dr. Michael Hartsell, and his friends at Bargain Lot Auction.
