Died: Feb. 21, 2010

WEST GARDINER, Maine -- The funeral service for Christopher Scott Riedel was held Sunday at Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner. Interment was in East Readfield Cemetery.

Mr. Riedel, 46, of West Gardiner, died Sunday, Feb. 21.

"He was called home unexpectedly by his Lord and Savior," his family stated.

He was a 1981 graduate of Greeneville High School in Tennessee.

Born on July 16, 1963, in New Jersey, he was a son of Betty Harrington Riedel and the late Robert Riedel IV.

Mr. Riedel had lived in several places throughout his life, Canada, Tennessee, Florida, and Maine.

He was a welder by trade.

His family provided the following statement: "Chris worked very hard and took great pride in his work when his health allowed.

"He adored and enjoyed time spent with his family and missed all of them very much with the miles between them, but all were always close to his heart and in his prayers.

"Chris enjoyed trips to Rangeley, Ohio, Florida, Tennessee, whether it was camping, fishing, snowmobiling or four-wheeling or just cooking a big pot of spaghetti to share with those that meant the most to him.

"Chris loved everyone and will be remembered as a kind man and will be missed by all that knew him."

Survivors include his mother; five children; his sister "seester" and brother-in-law: Laurie and Rob Rust; his grandmother: Ella Harrington; four grandchildren; four stepchildren; four stepgrandchildren; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a number of special friends, including: Jeff O'Neil and Jerry Gorman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Riedel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
