Josephine Parman

Josephine Parman, age 88, of Houston Valley Road, died Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late David P. and Anna Lee Cornwell, and was raised in the Cove Creek community. She was the widow of Lewis Victor "Vic" Parman.
Most people affectionately knew her as "Granny Jo."
Mrs. Parman was a lifelong member of Solomon Lutheran Church, where she attended faithfully.
She worked at South Greene High School in the cafeteria for 23 years.
After retiring, she worked as a foster grandparent at the Children's Center, Doak Elementary School, and Hal Henard Elementary School.
"Granny Jo had many friends of all ages that loved and admired her. She had a sweet spirit that exhibited itself through her personality, kind words, and compassion for all those she met.
"She was a gifted bread maker and cook," her family noted.
Survivors include a daughter: Marilyn Shipley of Greeneville; a daughter-in-law: Teresa Parman Cutshall and her husband, Marshall; her grandsons and their wives: Brad and Kelly Parman of Knoxville and Eric Shipley and Julie Bowers-Shipley of Greeneville, and Robbie Davis; her great grandchildren: Sydney Parman, Carlie Shipley, and Abbie Shipley; one great-great-grandchild: Jada Dixon; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law: Willie Kate Cornwell, Norma Cornwell, and Kate Cornwell; and a number of special friends, including: Bruce and Ann Crum, Doug and Debbie Crum, Homer and Virginia Huff, Cecil Renner, Lillian Tarlton, Marty Catherine Crum, Kathy Vaden, Betty Parton, Gail and Glen Bradley, Brenda Miller, Johnny and Lois Powers, Wayne Hicks, and Matthew Hicks.
She was preceded in death by one son: Leroy Parman; a great-granddaughter: Heather Silas; and three brothers: Clarence Cornwell, J.D. Cornwell, and Elmer Cornwell.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Solomon Lutheran Church. Pastor Larry Moore will officiate.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doug Crum, Ted Reaves, Jim Cutshall, Fred Wilhoit, Tim Solomon, Donnie Davis, Bobby Joe Shipley, and John Ricker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brooks Morelock and staff, Smoky Mountain Home Health staff, and the members of Solomon Lutheran Church.
