Dennis 'Wade' Brooks

JONESBOROUGH - Dennis "Wade" Brooks, 76, of Telford , died Wednesday at Durham-Hensley Nursing Home in Chuckey.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Washington County and a son of the late Phillip and Bell Poore Brooks.
He was a member of Enon Baptist Church .
He owned and operated Wade Brooks Woodworking.
Survivors include his wife: Madelene Ball Brooks, who was by his side until the end, the family stated; one daughter: Sharon Hoxie of Jonesborough; two sons: Kenneth W. Brooks of Atlanta, Ga., and Dennis D. Brooks of Telford; three grandchildren: Christie Childress, Travis Hoxie and a "very special granddaughter and best medicine for Wade," Cassandra Brooks; four "precious" great-grandchildren: Christianna Childress, Hunter Childress, Gavin Childress and Abigail Hoxie; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Ruth and Lyle Foreman of Greeneville, Marjorie and Dave Kipps of Virginia and Bobbie and Charles Partee of Idaho; a special aunt: Velma Harris of Telford; and his special friends: Christi Brooks, "a very special person whom Wade thought of as a daughter," the family stated; Kenneth Blevins, and Charlie and Marjorie Mitchell.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 1 o'clock in the chapel. Chaplain Jerry Ketron and the Rev. Albert Bentley will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mount Wesley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis Hoxie, Arthur Stepp, Lyle Foreman, Ben Furches, Harmon Mathes and Sammy Stanton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Mitchell, Glen Bryant, Talmage Bryant, Glea Broyles, C.W. Campbell and David Stanton.
