Opal Mae Ball

FALL BRANCH -- Opal Mae Workman Ball, 85, died Monday night at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport.
Mrs. Ball was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Johnson City.
She had lived in Fall Branch from late 1947 until moving to Preston Place in Kingsport in 2000.
Mrs. Ball was a homemaker and the widow of Clifford Ball, who died in 1991.
She was a "faithful member and pre-school Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch for a number of years," her family noted.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and Jim Swarts of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister-in-law: Margaret Ball of Fall Branch; a nephew and his wife: Ken and Peggy Ball of Asheville, N.C.; a niece and her husband: Libby and Mike Depew of Fall Branch; a great-nephew: Heath Depew; a great-niece and her husband: Rhonda and Bill Quade; and a great-great-nephew: Jacob Quade.
A graveside service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at First Baptist Church, Fall Branch. The Rev. Carl Strickler and the Rev. Victor Wallace will officiate.
Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends at the church.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Preston Place and Preston Place II.
