Ruth LaRue Marion, 88, of the Clear Springs community, died
Thursday afternoon at her home surrounded by her "loving" children.
Mrs.
Marion was born June 1, 1921, is Stephenville, Texas, a daughter of the late James E. and Irene
Landford.
She worked for the Red Cross during world War II, where she
met her husband, Hurshel D. Marion.
They were married Sept. 18, 1944, and
moved to Tennessee, where they raised their family. He preceded her in death March 12, 1996, after
52 years of marriage.
She attended Clear Springs United Methodist Church
as long as her health permitted and served actively as the treasurer for a number of
years.
Her family noted, "All that knew her stated she was a gentle,
loving, and kind person and her faith in God always shined through. She was a loving mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and will truly be missed by all who knew
her."
Survivors include a daughter: Barbara Marion of Orlando, Fla; a son
and daughter-in-law: James and Rene Marion; three granddaughters and their husbands: Amande and
Matthew Gosnell, Jamie and Jason Taylor, and Sarah and Michael Shelton; nine great-grandchildren:
Jordan Marion, Ashlynn Gosnell, Brodie Gosnell, Loryn Taylor, Zakary Taylor, Charlie Grace Taylor,
Olivia Taylor, Madison Shelton, and Emma Shelton; two special nephews: Moritz Landford and Bobby
Marion; two special nieces: Betty Williamson and Shirley Wilson; several great-nephews and cousins;
and two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Marion and Doris Marion.
She was preceded
in death by three brothers: Max Landford, Orin Landford, Robert Landford; and one sister: Edna
Landford.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jeffers
Funeral & Cremation Service, and other times at the home of James Marion on Splatter Creek
Road.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the
funeral home chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Duncan and the Rev. Adam Love will
officiate.
A committal service will be held at 1:30 Sunday afternoon in
Pleasant Vale Cemetery.
Family and friends will meet at 1 o'clock at the
funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be
Billy Huffman, Bobby Townsend, Bobby Campbell, Alan Grubbs, Norman Williamson, Randy Earley, Randell
Early, and Howard Collins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth
Susong, Bobby Jean Marion, Tom Hite, the members of the Gleaner's Guild Sunday School Class, Sammy
Million, Jimmy Townsend, Richard Bowers, and the staffs of Smoky Mountain Hospice and Laughlin Home
Health.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gleaners Guild Class,

Limestone.
