Elizabeth 'Floss' Powell
Died: Nov. 1, 2009
Elizabeth Hope "Floss" Powell, 44, of Mosheim, died Sunday in Bulls Gap.
She was born Nov. 5, 1964, and was a daughter of the late Larry Matthew Powell and the late Earlene Aldridge Hamer.
Ms. Powell was raised in Morganton, N.C., but had made her home in Greene County.
She was a 1982 graduate of Freedom High School.
Her family noted, "She will be remembered as a dedicated and loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a friend to all and a blessing to anyone who knew her."
Survivors include her "beloved" son: Michael Edward Aldridge Banner of Mosheim; her special friend of 27 years and the father of her son: Bill "Bush Hawg" Banner; three sisters and their husbands: Anita and Larry Lowenberg of Deep Gap, N.C., Joyce and Michael Dellinger of Henson Creek, N.C., and Rita and Junior Staton of Spruce Pine, N.C.; six brothers and their wives: John and Cindy Hamer and Mark and Judy Hamer, all of Morganton, Larry Dale Cook of Casar, N.C., Larry Wayne and Tammy Powell of Morganton, and Norris Powell and Bobby and Heidi Powell, all of Crossnore, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; a very special friend; Melissa Hampton of Greeneville; her special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Claude Banner of Greeneville; and a special friend of the family: Tori Rosier of Mosheim, Michael Banner's fiancée.
Ms. Powell was preceded in death by one sister: Debbie Hamer.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Mosheim Chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home, and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Assembly of God in Morganton.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Calvary Assembly of God. The Rev. Mike Whisnant will officiate.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
