Died: Nov. 1, 2009

Tommy Joseph Davis, 77, of Dandridge, formerly of Greeneville, died Sunday at James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home in Johnson City.

Mr. Davis retired from MECO Inc., where he worked in quality control.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

"He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather," his family noted.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years: June Lintz Davis; a daughter and son-in-law: Devinda "Dee" and Phil Winter of Greeneville; a son and daughter-in-law: Tommy Joseph "T.J." Davis II and his wife, Darlene Cardott, of Cameron, N.C.; a granddaughter and her husband: Dana and Jason Nidiffer of Blountville; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law: Erich and Bambi Winter of Greeneville and Tommy Joseph Davis III of Sanford, N.C.; a great-grandson: Zane Winter; a great-granddaughter: Autumn Nidiffer; a stepgreat-grandson: Cody Nidiffer; a brother and sister-in-law: Kenny and Carolyn Davis of Nashville; a sister: Rebecca Tindall of Longwood, Fla.; 10 nephews and nieces; 27 great-nephews and great-nieces; several cousins; and a very special lifelong friend: James Brannon.

He was a son of the late Tommy E. and Zada L. Davis and was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Hawkins.

A memorial service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Pastor Michael Jannett will officiate.

There will be no formal visitation.
