ROGERSVILLE -- Giles Freeman Thompson, 85, of the Persia community, died Sunday at Greystone Healthcare Center.
His family stated, "He went to be with our Lord and Savior."
Mr. Thompson was a member of Otis Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Nadine (Trent) Thompson; two sons: Roy Thompson and Giles Thompson Jr., two daughters: Jeanette Salanis and Dessie Moore, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of Texas; his stepsons: Steve Dugger of the home, and David Dugger and his wife, Barbara, of Bulls Gap; his stepgrandsons, Chad Dugger and his wife, Melissa, of Greeneville and Charlie Martin and Chris Martin, both of Maryland; his stepgranddaughters and their husbands: Jessica Boatman and Krissy and Dustin Warren, all of Bulls Gap, and Dana and John Marshall of Maryland; his stepgreat-granddaughters: Katelyn Dugger, Amber Dugger, Allie Boatman, Gina Marshall, and Samatha Marshall; a stepgreat-grandson: John Marshall; and a special friend of the family: Bobby Joe Short.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Roscoe and Dessie Thompson; his sisters: Mrs. Kenner (Mildred) Reedy, Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Legg, Mrs. Joe (Lorraine) Myers, Ruth Grubb, Dorothy Grubb, and Mrs. Keith (Orpha) Hackney; a brother: Bobby Joe Thompson; and a stepdaughter: Bessie Marie Martin.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 6 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Wayland Richards and the Rev. Fred Dimond will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in Courtney Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Dugger, Dustin Warren, Ricky Short, Steve Goodson, Craig Mosley, and Joe Crocker.
