Died: Oct. 26, 2009

Flora S. Higgins Norton, 80, of Greeneville, died Monday at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

"She went to be with Jesus," her family stated.

Mrs. Norton was an employee of the former Philips Consumer Electronics Co.

Survivors include her husband: Clifford "Bud" Norton; a daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Jerry Waddell of Greeneville; one son and daughter-in-law: Ralph and Cynthia Higgins of Greeneville; four grandchildren and their spouses: Andrew and Jennifer Waddell, William Waddell, Heather and Scottie Shelton, and Nathan and Jodi Higgins, all of Greeneville; a brother: Robert Shelton of Marshall, N.C.; a sister and brother-in-law: Pearl and Gerald Smith of Morristown; three great-grandchildren: Sydney "Little Bit" Shelton, Austin "Jeff" Higgins, and Tyson "Mutt" Waddell, all of Greeneville; three stepsons and their wives: Wayne and Melinda Norton of Knoxville, and David and Sue Cox and Mike and Beth Norton, all of Greene County; a stepdaughter and her spouse: Kathy and Bryce Lamb of Greene County; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a daughter of the late Raymond and Lydia Shelton and was preceded in death by a great-grandchild: Angel Waddell; and two brothers: Andrew Shelton and Ralph Shelton.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today and from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Martha Beamer and the Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate.

Interment will follow in GraceLand Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Andy Waddell, Nathan Higgins, Scottie Shelton, William Waddell, Bobby Arrington, and Roger Whaley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Sathiyendran Poobalasingham, Dr. Dharmen Patel, Dr. Duc Qui Vu, Dr. Joe Austin, the staff of Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, and the staffs of Fresenius Dialysis Center of Kingsport and Advance Home Care.
