Roy M. Weems
Died: Oct. 23, 2009
Roy M. Weems, 68, of Lost Mountain Pike, Greene County, died Friday morning at Laughlin Health Care Center following a severe stroke on Sept. 15.
He was a retired school bus driver at West Pines Elementary School for the Greene County School System for 23 years and was a self-employed construction worker.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Marty and Susan Weems of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeff Weems of the Lost Mountain community; three grandchildren: Savanah Marie Weems of Arizona, and Denver Weems and Caleb Weems, both of Lost Mountain; one sister: Norma Jean Thompson of Greeneville; a brother and sister-in-law: Donald and Joyce Weems of Lost Mountain; a special aunt: Dorothy Deal of Bluff City; and three special friends of the family: Lisa Marshall of the Lost Mountain community, the fiance of Jeff Weems, and Lacy Marshall and Kaci Whitesitt, who were like grandchildren to Mr. Weems, family members said.
Mr. Weems was the son of the late Cecil and Nell Holland Weems.
The family will receive friends at Kiser- Rose Hill Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today preceding the funeral service at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The Rev. Eddie Malone will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the committal service.
Pallbearers will be Russell Frye, Dale Rogers, Charlie Crenshaw, Terry Dawson, Dale Larkin, Jerome Brandon, Tony Bailey, J.D. Lowe and Stan Neal.
Honorary pallbearers will be the West Pines School bus drivers, and Mr. Weems' friends and neighbors of the Lost Mountain community
