NEWPORT -- Joe Harold Anderson, 83, of Greeneville, died Thursday at Signature HealthCARE of Greeneville.

Mr. Anderson was born Dec. 21, 1925, and was a son of the late to Virgie (Hull) and Elmer Brumley Anderson.

He attended Mosheim High School and was employed by Magnavox from 1952 to 1992.

Mr. Anderson was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was stationed in Japan during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Mary Jane Ottinger Anderson; his children and their spouses: Sharon and Bill Seneker, Linda and David Sutton, Brenda and Terry Cannon, and Judy Whitson; his grandchildren and their spouses: Suzanne (Cannon) and Robert Wilhoit, Joseph and Anna Sutton, Thomas Sutton, and Derick Whitson; a great-grandchild: Cannon Abigail Wilhoit; his sister and her husband: Carolyn (Anderson) and Max Cobble of Denver, Colo.; a brother-in-law: Jack Ray Ottinger of Parrottsville; special cousins: Betty Ann Solomon and Janet Weems; his special friends: Wayne Franklin, J.D. Blazer, Willard Huff, Ronnie Harrison, and the members of Salem Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Hull Anderson.

A graveside service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Parrottsville. Pastor Jack Wilder will officiate.

Following the service, a celebration of life reception will be provided by his family in the church fellowship hall. The women of the Salem WELCA will be the servers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.

Costner-Maloy Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
