Died: Oct. 21, 2009

ERWIN -- Jessie Kate Bryant, 79, of Mayberry Road, Jonesborough, died Wednesday at North Side Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Greene County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lofton and Madge Lee Wisecarver Solomon.

Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and had been a resident of Jonesborough for the past 55 years.

She was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years: Talmage Bryant; her daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Van Raines of Kentucky; her son: Glen Bryant of Jonesborough; three grandchildren and their spouses: April and Edgar Bowlin of Colonial Heights, Chris and Lisa Nicholson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Charles and Twilla Hundley of Jonesborough; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Laura Dale Byrd of Kingsport and Blanche Murphy of Green Mountain, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend of the family: Brenda Blankenship of Jonesborough,

She was preceded in death by her brother, Wilson Carlisle Solomon.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Robert Ledford Funeral Home, 720 Ohio Ave., Erwin, and other times at the home of Glen Bryant, 867 Mayberry Road, Jonesborough.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 1 o'clock Saturday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Rodgers will officiate.

Interment will follow in Mayberry Community Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends, including Chris Nicholson, Charles Hundley and Edgar Bowlin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Bailey, Clyde Story, Henry Reeves, Carlos Peterson and Gary Walters.
