Mabel Viola Bowman

Mabel Viola Bowman, 74, of Jones Lane, Greeneville, died Thursday at her home.
Mrs. Bowman was a homemaker and the widow of Eugene Bowman, who died May 1, 2000.
She was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church in Mosheim, where she attended as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class and taught the class for a number of years.
"She enjoyed her iris garden and quilting," her family noted.
Survivors include three daughters and four sons-in-law: Juanita and Phil Hicks of Midway, Barbara and Dale Waddle and Mary Alice and Ronnie Gosnell, all of Greeneville, and Bobby Byrd of Afton; two sons and daughters-in-law: Roger and Miranda Bowman and Ricky and Glenda Bowman, all of Greeneville; her grandchildren and their spouses: Tim and Wilma Hicks of Waterloo, Iowa, Jon Hicks of Cookeville, Cindy and Brian Wright, Cathy Byrd, Craig Osborne, Derick Bowman, and Richard Bowman, all of Greeneville, Chad Bowman of Corrington, Ashley Waddle of Greeneville, Heather and Clint McPherson of Kingsport, Ryan Witt of Greeneville, and Chris Gosnell of Charlotte, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Nellie Ruth Johnson of Greeneville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was a daughter of the late James and Ceila Mae Story Moyers and was preceded in death by a daughter: Brenda Byrd; a brother: Jay Moyers; and two sisters: Thelma Cross and Charlotte Moyers.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at Brown Springs Baptist Church with interment in Brown Springs Cemetery.
The Rev. Richard Long and the Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Derick Bowman, Jon Hicks, Tim Hicks, Chad Bowman, Richard Bowman, and Ryan Witt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Wright, Craig Osborne, Clint McPherson, the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Dr. James Rodgers, and the members of the Ladies Prayer Group of Brown Springs Baptist Church.
