JONESBOROUGH - Ava Hodges Gore, 86, of Johnson City, died Friday at Lakebridge Health Care Center in Johnson City.

Mrs. Gore was born in Washington County and was a daughter of the late J.B. and Callie Hodges.

Her son, Ricky "Senator" Gore of Jonesborough, is employed in Greeneville, and Mrs. Gore has a number of cousins in Greene County.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gore was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gore, a son, James Gore, and several brothers and sisters.

She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to her son include two daughters: Roma Stewart of Kingsport, and Martha Donegan of Johnson City; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother: Jay Hodges of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services prior to the 4 p.m. service.

Interment will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
