Died: June 29, 2009

FALL BRANCH - Robert "Bob" Crawford of Fall Branch died Monday at his home.

His family said he "went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family."

Mr. Crawford was born March 6, 1927, in Wise, Va.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Crawford was retired from Brooks Enterprises, Inc.

His family said, "He enjoyed talking with family and friends and loved to feed the birds."

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years: Jennie Porter Crawford; his parents: John and Iona Crawford; one sister: Helen Hite; one brother: Raymond Crawford; and one great-granddaughter: Aubrey Marlena Rigsby.

Surviving are four sons and their wives: Hugh and Karen Crawford of Gray, Gary and Terri Crawford of Fall Branch, Jimmy and Judy Crawford of Kingsport, and Stanley and Ginger Crawford of Greeneville; three daughters and their husbands: Linda and Clayton Powers of Kingsport, Patsy and Danny Dillow of Fall Branch, and Carolyn and Kevin Buck of Jonesborough; 11 grandchildren: Tony Crawford, Stephanie Lott, Gene Crawford, Andrea Crawford, Jamie Pritt, April Rigsby, Clarissa Lane, Danielle Mitchell, Augusta Crawford, Sabra Thornton, and Dalton Buck; 14 great-grandchildren: Jake Crawford, Grace Crawford, Libby Lott, Ella Claire Lott, Sarah Lott, Dustin Crawford, Haley Crawford, Olivia Pritt, Alyssa Pritt, Dillon Rigsby, Cheyenne Rigsby, Hannah Lane, Saleah Arnold, and Colton Thornton; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Wanda and Willis Forbes of Rising Sun, Md., and Blanche and Phillip Lightner of Fall Branch; seven brothers and three sisters-in-law: Austin Crawford of Blountville, Kermit and Sue Crawford, Bill Crawford, John Crawford Jr., and Jerry Crawford, all of Fall Branch, Charles and Mona Crawford of Kingsport, and Jack and Linda Crawford of Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Crawford and the Rev. Harold R. Morelock officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Family members and friends will be pallbearers.
