Jennie 'Jack' Baskett Milburn
Died: June 27, 2009
Jennie Ruth "Jack" Baskett Milburn, 82, of the Kingsport Highway, Chuckey, died Saturday afternoon at Takoma Regional Hospital.
Her family said she "went home to be with the Lord."
Mrs. Milburn was a member of Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 45 years and was also a member of the CP Women of the church.
She was co-owner of Milburn Grocery for many years.
Mrs. Milburn was a member of the Pleasant Hill-Jearoldstown Family and Community Education club, and had recently received her 50-year membership certificate.
Her family knew her as a "loving devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her."
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law: Terrill and Mary Milburn of Sullivan Gardens and Bobby Milburn of Chuckey; three grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law: Craig and Kim Milburn of Greeneville, Jonathan Milburn of Sullivan Gardens and Kathy Milburn of Gray; a great-granddaughter: Autumn Matherly of Gray; three stepgreat-grandchildren: Ben Paul, Caroline Paul and Emily Paul, all of Greeneville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend of the family: Linda McIver of Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: John Paul "Buck" Milburn; two brothers: John Baskett and Fred Baskett; and a sister: Velma "Toots" Bowling.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held following visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. Dr. James R. McKinney and the Rev. Don Alexander will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to Milburnton Cemetery for the 11 a.m. committal service.
Pallbearers will be Terrill Milburn, Bobby Milburn, Craig Milburn, Jonathan Milburn, and other family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Durham-Hensley Nursing Home, Linda Compton, Judy Johnson, and Mrs. Milburn's friends of the Pleasant Hill and Milburnton communities.
Memorial contributions may be made to Milburnton Church, Pleasant Hill CP Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
