Jack Dyer

Lester Clyde "Jack" Dyer, 97 of Laughlin Healthcare Center, formerly of the McDonald community, died Thursday at the center.
He was born Dec. 11, 1911, and was a son of the late Charley and Celia Dyer. He was the widower of Willie Maude Dyer, his wife of 65 years, who died Sept. 1, 2008.
Mr. Dyer was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and attended regularly as long as his health permitted, having been baptized at the age of 95 by his great-nephew, Kevin Wisecarver. He was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
Mr. Dyer was a retired farmer, carpenter and barber.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a sister and special brother-in-law: June and Clyde McLean of McDonald; three nieces and their spouses: Linda and Rick Wisecarver of McDonald, Patricia Diane and Ed Seal of Smithville, and Gay Dawn and Charles Assadouvian of Fort Hood, Texas; three nephews and their wives: John Mark Dyer of Nashville, Joe and Mary Burgin and Billy and Joyce Burgin; his great-nieces: Latasha Keller and her husband, Richard, of Greeneville, and Rachel Seal of Smithville; his great-nephews and their wives: Kevin and Jennifer Wisecarver of McDonald and Tim and Danya Seal of Sparta; and his sisters-in-law: Syble Dyer of Smithville and Mary Ruth Dyer of Hermitage.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Hazel Dyer and Ruth Horner; and two brothers: Earl Dyer and Clarence Dyer.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 3 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Dr. Howard "Johnny" Shipley and Kevin Wisecarver will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hal Wisecarver, Charles "Tub" Day, Bill Tabor, Joe Pettit, Gayle Pierce, Joe Burgin, Billy Burgin, and Charles Southerland.
