- Mildred Sizemore Ashley, 83, of Morristown, died Thursday at Lakeway Regional Hospital in
Morristown.
She was a "faithful," longtime member of Open Door Baptist
Church in Morristown.
Born May 22, 1925, at Afton in Greene County, she
was a daughter of the late Henry Harrison Sizemore and the late Bessie Clyde Brown
Sizemore.
"She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt,
and sister," her family noted.
She was the widow of Claude Harding
Ashley, her husband of 44 years.
Survivors include seven children and
their spouses: Carolyn and Bill Hodge, Elaine and Scott Baxter, Gary and Ann Ashley, Vicky and
Richard Whaley, Jeanie and Terry Helton, Bonita Perkey, and Argil and Kathy Ashley; 15
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister: Beulah Kite; and a brother: Rhea Hartman
Sizemore.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles Sizemore,
Edward Sizemore, Harry Sizemore, and Coy Sizemore; and two sisters: Athalyne Hyder and Sallie
Sebastian.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at
Mayes Family Services, 4524 West Andrew Johnson Highway, Morristown.
The
funeral service will follow visitation at noon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Mark Burford
will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 1:30 Saturday
afternoon in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
