Cloyd J. 'Junior' Davis

WINNEBAGO, Ill. -- Cloyd J. "Junior" Davis, 78, of Pecatonica, died Sunday morning at his home after an extended illness.

Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Limestone, Tenn., and was a son of the late Cloyd and Maggie (Jennings) Davis.

On May 29, 1953, he married the former Jewell Dunbar of Chuckey, Tenn.

Mr. Davis retired from the Rockford Boys' Club in 1992.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his children and their spouses: Joyce and Steven Boyer of Winnebago, Danny Davis of Rockford, Terry and Cheryl Davis of Rockton, Ronny and Lori Davis of Pecatonica, Lonny and Carol Davis of Machesney Park, and Jerry (Jill) Davis of Pecatonica; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister: Georgi Carter of Limestone; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Ruth and Donald Burgner of Chuckey and Pauline Davis of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Genandt Funeral Home in Winnebago.

At Mr. Davis' request, the body was cremated.
