John Hugh McAmis

Died: June 28, 2008

MORRISTOWN -- John Hugh McAmis, 58, of Morristown, died Saturday at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.

He was born in Sycamore, Ill., and raised in Greene County.

Mr. McAmis was the former pastor of Old Fashion Gospel Church.

Survivors include his wife: Lois Ann McAmis; three stepsons: Eddie Denton, Joe Denton, and Lee Denton; two stepdaughters: Theresa Long of White Pine and Kem Denton of Talbott; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother: Samuel J. McAmis; three sisters: Sylvia Faye Smith of Greeneville, Mary Ina Grubbs of Limestone, and Ruth Eugene Duncan of Afton; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Samuel Elbert and Sylvia Mercer McAmis.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Kenny Davis will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
