Doris Lee Hensley

Died: April 29, 2008

MORRISTOWN -- Doris Lee Hensley died early Tuesday morning at her home.

"Always an exceptionally youthful and active woman, Doris struggled valiantly against a very rare and incurable disease," her family noted.

"She was a remarkable lady whose loss will be grieved."

She was a daughter of the late Vernon C. and Pearl M. Smith and was preceded in death by her son, Shane Hensley.

Survivors include two "tirelessly devoted" daughters: Cindy Guinn and Cathy Mahurin, who "never left her side during her illness"; a son-in-law: Mike Mahurin; her brother and his wife: Vernon and Patricia Smith of Chicago, Ill.; her sisters and their husbands: Jeanette Fleenor of Lenoir City, Shirley and Robert Ware of Talbott, Wanda and Emitt Corbin of Zebulon, Ga., Linda Simpson of Chuckey, and Joyce Holthaus and her husband of Seneca, Kan.; and a "host" of nieces and nephews, who "will greatly miss their 'Aunt Doris.' "

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mayes Mortuary Chapel, 444 W. Main St., Morristown.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the mortuary chapel. The Rev. George Miller will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in Chuckey United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greene County.
