Oretta Rankin Smith

Died: April 28, 2008

Oretta Rankin Smith, 81, of Stone Mountain, Ga., died Monday.

Mrs. Smith was an office manager of Millier's Book and Office Supply for number of years, and bookkeeper for Carmichael Brasher Tuvell for several years before retiring.

She was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the 731 Club at the church, and the Senior Citizen's Gwinnett Bethesda Center.

"She loved embroidery, quilting, sewing, and traveling," her family noted.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William Cecil Smith.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jerrel W. "Jerry" and Connie (Ricker) Smith of Walnut Grove, Ga., Sharron "Sherry" S. and Gene Hill of Dearborn, Mo., and Sandra M. and Sam Smith of Stone Mountain; her grandchildren: Justin Scott Hill of Lake Worth, Fla., and Shayne M. Smith of Stone Mountain; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Dorothy Louise Rankin Waits of Kennesaw, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and family members and friends in Greene County.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 731 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, Ga.

A memorial service will follow visitation at 11 o'clock at the church. The Rev. Brian Goke will officiate.

Interment will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Ga.
