West Pines, Blazers, Baileyton All Claim Elementary Sweeps

West Pines, Nolachuckey and Baileyton won doubleheaders in Greene County Elementary League action Monday.

The Panthers downed Ottway, Nolachuckey beat Camp Creek and Baileyton won over Glenwood. In other games, Mosheim and DeBusk split two games.

PANTHERS BEAT OTTWAY

Homestanding West Pines won both ends of a doubleheader from Ottway Monday night.

The West Pines girls won a 26-23 nail-biter, as Sam Dykes hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer for the Lady Panthers. Lauren Baxter led the scoring with 10 points. Mckenzie Reynolds was high for Ottway with 12.

The game was tied at 23-23 with time running out when Dykes unloaded the game-winner.

In the boys game, West Pines coasted to a 39-19 win, leading 12-1 after one quarter.

Zack Potter scored 16 and Dustin Weems added 10 for West Pines. Tim Lightfoot and Tyler Black scored four points each for Ottway.

Ottway (23): Lane 3, Navarro 3, Mckenzie Reynolds 12, Foster 5.

West Pines (26): Dykes 6, Parman 2, Weems 8, Lauren Baxter 10.

MOSHEIM, BRAVES SPLIT

The homestanding Mosheim Indians divided a doubleheader with visiting DeBusk Monday night.

The DeBusk girls took a 43-26 decision, led by Lorena Leon with 16 and Faith Mercer with nine. Kirsten Johnson scored 12 for Mosheim.

DeBusk commanded the first half with a 24-15 halftime advantage.

The Mosheim boys captured a 43-42 thriller as Tyler Early scored 17 and Tanner Early had 14. Dylan Yates with 12 and Sam Whitehead with 10 was best for DeBusk.

DeBusk led 25-18 at halftime, but the Indians rallied back in the second half.

BLAZERS WIN PAIR

The Nolachuckey Blazers won two games over Camp Creek Monday night.

The Lady Blazers captured a 39-24 win behind 15 points from Alora Ricker. Cheyenne Upton scored eight for Camp Creek.

After a 9-9 first quarter tie, Nolachuckey commanded a 23-14 halftime lead.

The Nolachuckey boys ran away to a 16-2 first quarter lead on the way to a 53-12 victory.

Avery Porro scored 16 to lead the Blazers. Brandon Effler scored six for Camp Creek.

DRAGONS SWEEP CHIEFS

Baileyton picked up a road sweep at Glenwood on Monday night.

The Lady Dragons won 31-18 led by 16 points from Mendy McNeese. Cureisha Ford scored six for Glenwood. Baileyton led 19-6 at halftime.

Baileyton's boys cruised to a 56-19 victory. Tyler Bailey had 14 for the Dragons, and Troy Hall had 10. Cody Waddell led the Chiefs with 6.
