Semifinals Set In Elementary Hoops Tourney

The Greene County Elementary Basketball continued on Monday night at North Greene with Nolachuckey and Mosheim winning in girls' action and Baileyton and Mosheim taking boys' victories.

The tournament semifinals will be played on Thursday. Nolachuckey takes on Mosheim and DeBusk plays Baileyton in the two girls' games. Baileyton plays Mosheim and Nolachuckey plays West Pines in the boys' showdowns.

CHIEFS TOP BRAVES

Mosheim won a thriller in the last game of the night, defeating DeBusk 51-50 in overtime.

Tyler Earley hit four 3-pointers for Mosheim, including a buzzer beater at the end of regulation to knot the score at 43.

Earley led the Chiefs in scoring with 27 points. Jonathan Zavaletta paced DeBusk with nine.

DeBusk (50): Lowery 6, Tweed 8, Alcantarra 7, Whitehead 8, Yates 8, Zavaletta 9.

Mosheim (51): Tyler Earley 27, Ta.Earley 4, Wilson 7, Greenleee 6, Pratt 7.

MOSHEIM GIRLS WIN

Mosheim's girls fought from a narrow first quarter deficit to beat Camp Creek 36-22. The Lady Bears were up 9-8 at the end of one, but the Lady Chiefs too over and captured the win.

Paige Haire led Mosheim with 11 points. Camp Creek's Rachel Crum scored a game-best 15 points.

Camp Creek (22): Rachel Crum 15, Upton 2, Smith 3, Brooks 2.

Mosheim (36): Brown 4, Paige Haire 11, Peters 6, Johnson 6, Lamb 9.

Camp Creek 9 2 2 9 -- 22

Mosheim 8 4 8 16 -- 36

BAILEYTON ROLLS

Baileyton's boys rolled to a 49-9 over northside rival Ottway. The Dragons kept the Eagles scoreless in the first quarter and led 27-2 at halftime.

Tyler Bailey led the Dragons with 13 points. Ethan Harmon and Austin Johnson scored four each for Ottway.

Ottway (9): Harmon 4, Weems 1, Johnson 4.

Baileyton (49): Fillers 4, Britton 2, Trent 4, Easterly 1, Tyler Bailey 13, Hall 9, O'Neil 7, Collins 8, Trent 1.

Baileyton 12 15 14 8 -- 49

LADY BLAZERS WIN

Nolachuckey's girls posted a 54-12 win over Ottway to get to the semifinals.

The Lady Blazers led 35-6 at halftime.

Alora Ricker led Nolachuckey with 22 points. Peyton Williams scored 17. Lindsey Cutshaw scored 11. Ottway got four each from Brooke Nelson and Kansas Foster.

Ottway (12): Navarro 2, Reynolds 2, Nelson 4, Foster 4.

Nolachuckey (54): Habberstand 2, Lindsey Cutshaw 11, Peyton Williams 17, Horn 2, Alora Ricker 22.
