Rebs, Trojans Split Pair

MORRISTOWN -- South Greene traveled to Morristown West and came away with a split in a non-conference twin-bill Monday night.

The Lady Rebels lost to the powerful Lady Trojans 73-52, while the Rebel boys came away with a 62-56 victory.

Taylor Hall and Sydney Goins proved too much for South Greene in the opener as they scored 23 and 18 respectively, while Allison Jones chipped in with 11.

South Greene got 14 points from Rechelle Dye and 11 from Maelyn Cutshaw.

The Lady Rebs were still in the thick of it at intermission as they trailed by a slender 32-26 score. But the Lady Trojans began to pull away in the third quarter.

The South Greene boys gained a 62-56 win behind 17 points from Scott Blake, 12 from Kenan Wilhoit and 11 from Bryce Cutshaw. Anthony Sanders turned in a 26-point performance for the Trojans, including eight 3-pointers.

The Rebels were down 28-26 at halftime, but the regained the lead in the third quarter and managed to hold off the Trojans down the stretch.

The South Greene boys will be at home tonight to take on Cloudland. They will remain at home for a conference doubleheader on Friday against Grainger. On Saturday, the Lady Rebels will make a trip to Tennessee High in Bristol.
