The annual Landair Transport Tip-Off Classic, along with the Greene County Thanksgiving Classic will get the basketball season started locally during Thanksgiving week.
LANDAIR CLASSIC
The Landair Classic has been changed to a girls and boys tournament this year, and Coach Billy Duncan has invited a good cast of participants for the event, which starts on Monday, Nov. 23 and concludes on Saturday, Nov. 28.
The girls' bracket includes host Greeneville, who will play on Monday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. against the Unicoi County Lady Devils. Other first round girls games will have Bearden vs. Claiborne (Monday at 4 p.m.), Morristown West vs. Grainger (Tuesday at 5:30), and Elizabethton vs. Sevier County (Tuesday at 8:30).
The Greeneville boys will take on Morristown West in their tourney opener on Monday at 8:30 p.m. Other first round action will find Bearden vs. Sullivan South (Monday at 5:30), Grainger vs. Morristown East (Tuesday at 4:30), and Sevier County vs. Sullivan Central (Tuesday at 7:00).

THANKSGIVING CLASSIC
South Greene High will host the Greene County Thanksgiving Classic, with all four Greene County schools participating.
Action starts on Tuesday, Nov. 24, with four games. North Greene's Lady Huskies play Morristown East at 4 p.m., with the North Greene boys facing King's Academy at 5:30. The host South Greene girls play University High at 7:00, then the South Greene boys take on Providence Academy at 8:30.
Wednesday's schedule starts early at 10 a.m. when the Chuckey-Doak girls meet Hampton, followed at 11:30 a.m. by the Chuckey-Doak boys vs. Hampton. The 1 p.m. contest has West Greene's girls playing Cherokee, then the West Greene boys take on Pigeon Forge at 2:30.
After a break for Thanksgiving Day, the tourney resumes on Friday at 10 a.m. with eight games played, four loser's bracket and four winner's bracket games. Saturday is the final day of the event.
