An Old Kentucky Road West woman was charged on Wednesday by a Third Judicial District Drug Task Force agent with multiple offenses related to the discovery of an illegal methamphetamine laboratory inside her residence.

Bonita D. Cole, 30, of 3365 Old Kentucky Road West, was charged after DTF agents and sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at her residence early Wednesday.

Inside a "gun safe" found inside the residence, officers found "components constituting a meth lab," according to an arrest warrant that charged Cole with initiation of methamphetamine manufacturing.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Steve Burns said the components were found after officers brought the gun safe to the Greene County Crime Lab on College Street in Greeneville and opened it.

Another arrest warrant charged Cole with child abuse and neglect. It alleged that she allowed a six-year-old child to be inside the residence while manufacturing of the dangerous drug methamphetamine was in progress.

Other warrants charged Cole with possessing drug paraphernalia and manufacturing marijuana.

The manufacturing marijuana warrant alleged that officers found two marijuana plants growing in a large pot in a bedroom of the residence while serving the search warrant.

An indoor "grow light" also was found inside the bedroom, according to the warrant.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Steve Burns said the search warrant was served shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Bond for Cole was set at $10,000 and she was scheduled to make an initial appearance on Friday in General Sessions Court.
