Tusculum Board To Appoint Easterly's Successor On Mon.

The Tusculum Board of Mayor and Commissioners is scheduled to formally accept the resignation of Commissioner Mark Easterly and to appoint someone to serve the remainder of his unexpired term when it meets in regular session at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Tusculum Mayor John Foster said Commissioner Easterly resigned, effective March 1, because he had moved outside Tusculum.

Easterly's term does not expire until 2011, the mayor said, noting that under Tusculum's council form of government he and Commissioner Alan Corley are required to appoint a replacement for Easterly on the muncipality's three-member governing board.

The appointee will serve until the June 2011 Tusculum election.

Easterly also served as the Board of Mayor and Commissioners' representative on the Tusculum Planning Commission.

Either his successor or Commissioner Corley will be appointed to fill the planning commission vacancy.
