A "Thanksgiving with Friends" dinner for disabled and disadvantaged residents of northeastern Greene County is being planned for Wednesday, Nov. 25, by the Northern Greene County Churches United in Love Ministry.
The organizers said the annual Thanksgiving meal will be prepared for those who otherwise might not be able to have their own Thanksgiving dinner.
"The unemployed, the ill and shut-ins are all invited to request a meal," a press release said.
Meals will be prepared on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Union Temple Free Will Baptist Church at 9680 Kingsport Highway.
Those requesting meals may either dine at the church, beginning at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 25, carry out their meals, or request that meals be delivered on the afternoon of Nov. 25.
To arange to receive a meal, please call 348-7758, or 234-2042.
Pam McAmis, chairman of the Northern Greene County Churches United in Love Ministry, said organizers of the annual event are working with heavy hearts this year due to the recent death of John Fox, a founding member.
"If you look up the word Christian in the dictionary, there should be a photo of Mr. Fox there," McAmis said.
