'Rock Fall' Cleared From Asheville Highway

Sun Photo by Jim Feltman

Tennessee Department of Transportation employees on Wednesday night cleared a small "rock fall" from the shoulder of the Asheville Highway about two miles north of the North Carolina state line. The photo above (looking north, toward Greeneville) shows the scene as it appeared this morning. TDOT spokesman Yvette Martinez said TDOT personnel were returning to the scene today to clean out a ditch and to ensure that more debris had not fallen onto the road's shoulder. "There is no major concern," Martinez said.
